The Sutlers Supreme
NAAFI around the world
This interactive map has its origins, like so much of the Sutlers Supreme, in a small but evocative piece of NAAFI ephemera.
In my collection is a copy of NAAFI Reports: 50 Years of Service, within which appears a striking double-page illustration titled “Around the world in fifty years”. The image attempts to capture, in a single view, the remarkable geographical spread of NAAFI operations between 1921 and 1970.
It was from this simple but powerful visual idea that the concept of the present map emerged: a modern, interactive interpretation of that original illustration, allowing the viewer to explore for themselves the global reach of NAAFI, EFI/ATS and NCS service.
This is very much an ongoing project. At present, the markers indicate countries and territories where a NAAFI presence has been identified; over time, these will be expanded into detailed location entries, drawing together material from across the Sutlers Supreme archive.

Editor’s Note
This interactive map highlights countries and regions where NAAFI and EFI personnel operated across the world from 1921 onwards. Click on a country marker to explore related material, including archive items, photographs, research articles and location-based features connected to the history of NAAFI overseas.
Countries with linked repository or research content are indicated by red hover labels when moving the cursor across the map.
The project remains a work in progress and additional locations, archive material and map-linked features will continue to be added over time.
