Introducing NAAFI Voices
Today marks the launch of NAAFI Voices, a new section of The Sutlers Supreme dedicated to preserving the personal memories of those who served with NAAFI and the families who remember them.
The first contribution comes from Michael Shaw, who has kindly shared the story of his mother, Mary Shaw (née West), who served with NAAFI in the Portsmouth area during the Second World War. Alongside her memories are two touching poems written in tribute to the NAAFI girls who supported Britain's servicemen during the war.
Every photograph, memory and family story helps preserve another small piece of NAAFI history that might otherwise be lost. It is my hope that NAAFI Voices will grow into a lasting archive of personal recollections, celebrating not only the organisation itself but also the people whose kindness, dedication and humour made such a difference to generations of servicemen and women.
