All four parts of the War Diary of No. 1 HQ RASC/EFI for 1952 are now available in The Sutlers Supreme’s Historical Documents collection.
Following the earlier release of January–March, the addition of the remaining three parts brings together the full year’s sequence. These contemporary records offer a detailed view of the organisation supporting NAAFI operations in Japan and Korea during the Korean War.
Explore the 1952 diary
- Part One: January–March 1952
- Part Two: April–June 1952
- Part Three: July–September 1952
- Part Four: October–December 1952
The diary records personnel movements, supplies and shipping, strength returns and the day-to-day administration of the Royal Army Service Corps/Expeditionary Forces Institutes (RASC/EFI). For anyone researching NAAFI’s work in the Far East, or the people who served there, it provides a valuable primary source.
Each part can be explored in our book-style reader or opened as a downloadable PDF. The PDFs also include searchable text to help readers find names and subjects, although faint typing and handwriting should always be checked against the original photographs.
You will find all four parts in the Official and Archival Documents section of the page.
More to come
Copies of the diaries for 1953, 1954 and 1955 are awaited. Once received, they will be reviewed and prepared for the collection, extending this record of EFI’s work during and after the Korean War.
For now, we hope the completed 1952 sequence proves useful. If you recognise a name, served with the organisation, or have family connections to those recorded, we would be delighted to hear from you.
