The R.A.F. Raises the Question – NAAFI historical publication

The shelves are beginning to fill…

One of the aims of The Sutlers Supreme has always been to make original material relating to the history of NAAFI as accessible as possible.

Over time, a small collection of original NAAFI publications and historical documents has begun to accumulate on the website. Until now, these have largely been presented as downloadable PDF files.

That has now changed.

The NAAFI Historical Downloads section has been redesigned and, for a selection of publications, a new book-style reader has been introduced. Instead of having to download a document before seeing what it contains, readers can now open a publication online and turn through its pages much as they might the original booklet.

The collection currently includes publications ranging from the closing months of the Second World War through to the 1980s, with further material waiting to be added.

For researchers — and anyone who simply prefers working with the original document — the conventional PDF versions haven't disappeared. They remain available alongside the new reader.

This is very much a developing part of The Sutlers Supreme. As more suitable material becomes available, the intention is gradually to build the collection into a useful online resource for anyone interested in the history of NAAFI, Expeditionary Force Institutes (EFI), and the Naval Canteen Service (NCS).

More publications and historical documents will be added to the collection as they become available.
